Last Tomato

Jane Ledwell's first book of poetry was launched this evening at the Beaconsfield Carriage House in Charlottetown. Damn good turnout, standing room only.

Edited by yours truly. I'm pleased.

That's great!

There is a children's book called "First Tomato," by Rosemary Wells. It is part of the "Voyage to the Bunny Planet" series. Most charming. (Also, most successful. I wish Last Tomato as much success.)

"It smells of rain and steamy earth
and hot June sun.

In the whole tomato garden
it's the only ripe one."

Sadly, I can't take any credit for the cover. But I agree, it is pretty fine. Which is good, because the poetry deserves it. It was a pleasure to watch Jane's work become this book. (I suspect she'd be interested in First Tomato.)
